Leaning Tower of Pisa

It has got the name leaning in its name because this tower is not fully straight due to soft and unstable soil. Like many other constructions of that area, this tower also leans from one side. The actual length is 60 metres but due to leaning, now, the height of the top from the ground is only 56 metres.

In 2002, the soil below the tower was changed to provide it more strength. You have to climb 251 steps to reach the top of the tower from where you can get an amazing view.

The Great Wall of China

This is the longest wall complex in the world. Also a part of Seven Wonders of the World, this wall is 21,196 kilometres long which was completed in 1644. It is made of bricks and stones, wooden material, tiles and earth and it took around 2000 years to build this wall

It was constructed in order to protect the territory from the attacks of enemies and nomads. More than 2000 watchtowers are there on this wall and it is also visible from the space. More than 10 million people visit this place every year and it is one of the best tourist attractions in the country.

Great Pyramid of Giza

These pyramids are located in the capital of Egypt called Cairo and are among the few wonders of the ancient world which are still existing on the earth. Stones and sand were used in the construction of these pyramids and how so perfectly it was constructed at a time when there was no machine or modern equipment, is still a mystery.

These constructions only involved human labour and the dead body of the rulers was kept inside it. Their design has astronomical significance and many other mysteries which are still being solved.

Sydney Opera House

This was designed by a Denmark’s architect and it took 14 years to build it (from 1959 to 1973). Taj Mahal

A number of precious stones are used in its decoration and it was built in the memories of Mumtaz Mahal- the most loved wife of Shah Jahan.

Statue of Liberty

Made up of iron and copper, this statue is around 305 metres high and a major tourist attraction in the USA. It was built in 1884 in France and then was shipped to New York as a gift from France In 1886.

There are seven rays on the Crown of the Statue which resembles the 7 continents and 24k gold is used to cover the torch’s flame.

Machu Picchu

Also famous as the Lost City of Incas, it is located in Peru and its name means old mountain. It was built in the 14th century and the remains of the city were discovered in 1911.

There are about 200 buildings and different structures and it is located at a high altitude of about 8,000 feet. This is a great place to visit and it represents the fine skills of the engineers of Incas.

Moai Statues

These stone statues are located on an island called Easter Island(Chile). These statues, which are about nine hundred in numbers, were constructed between 1150 to 1500. Both small and big figures are there and the heaviest one measures around 82 tons. The locals believe that these structures represent their ancestors and it is also a great place to explore.

Kremlin
